We miss Eastern!

Yes we miss the way we celebrated eastern in the Philippines. I showed some pictures the other day on how Eastern was celebrated in our town Iloilo, all processions, the play with Jesus and the disciples, all scenes played in the Church, the brass band etc. The swedish congregation was impressed. Wow, they really celebrated Eastern in the Philippines, how different.
Yes, it is different. Can we inspire each other? Can we bring something to each other as christian borders and sisters?

If we want, we can.

Yes, we can.

The Swedish Snowman

By , February 20, 2012 20:18

Some days ago two persons on snowmobile outside Umeå, in the north of Sweden, found a man trapped in a car. He was very weak and could hardly speak. And there were reasons for his poor condition: he had been in the car for 2 months, before Christmas, and with no food. He drank only some melted snow.

Experts in the field of survival say that this is extreme. You seldom survive under these conditions, no food cold temperature, (it has been down to -30C/22F during these months) and with only snow as your food. There is no known case until now.
How did he get there and why didn’t he try to find help? There is information that the “Snowman” wanted to disappear after his private economy collapsed. He drove off with his car and a sleeping bag. That’s it.

The story of the Swedish Snowman soon became a well-know and world spread story. You can read about it on BBC here.

A filipino and a filipina

By , January 23, 2012 23:07

I found a filipino in Linköping, Sweden.

I met the roman-catholic priest in Linköping during an ecumenical clergy meeting, who is a filipino. This is fr Gabriel Baldostamon. Fr Gabriel is from North Cotabato in Mindanao and speaks Ilongo and Visaya. The other person is of course the other “filipina” rev. Therése Olsson who stayed in St. Pauls Theologcial seminary and in Guimaras, last year for 3 months.

We were very happy to meet a filipino from Linköping who also knows about Iloilo. His sister was living there and he had preached many times in the roman-catholic church in LaPaz.

It’s truly a small world.
