The Nativity Story

the-nativity-storyJesus is born. It’s been celebrated around the world for the last 24 hours. It is a dramatic story just like a film. And it has been filmed many times.

The Nativity story was one of them done in 2006 with, at the time, the young girl Keisha Castle-Hughes who earlier had made a huge success with the film The Whale rider (2002).

Only 16 years old she played the young girl Mary. The film had its premier at the Vatican state (unique, never heard of that before) but one was not invited – Mary, sorry Keisha Castle-Hughes who played Mary. The reason? She was pregnant only 16 year old, and had been pregnant during the hole production of the film. And worst of all: she was not married. Just like the young girl Mary she was playing.

History has must have a sense of humor. Or God. But the big tragedy is a church who cannot accept a girl who is pregnant out of wedlock. Specially when she is acting as Mary. Can it be more obvious? It’s like God is typing with block letters, and they simply cannot see.

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” Mark 10:51
